A Musical Birthday

Oh my goodness, it feels like forever since I have blogged...and it looks like it too!  LOL.  Things have been a little crazy here but slowly they are returning to normal.  I haven't had much time in the craft room, but my Mom is coming for a 10 day visit on the 13th so hopefully that will score me a few hours alone with my crafting goodies.

I do have a card for you today that I made last week for a friend of mine who plays the guitar.  When Bananastamper got this Edwin Playing Guitar stamp, I knew that I would use him one day...and that day happens to be today.  Conveniently, I also had this great paper from 7 Gypsies, which I bought at our LSS DAT'S to add to my collection.

The music notes were cut out using my MFT Music Note dies..and the paper is Co-ordinations...which I don't normally use, but the colours were just perfect.  I have such a hard time making masculine cards.  I didn't want to use plaid or fish on this one...which made it especially difficult.  Luckily, I was also able to incorporate the image inside the card.

I am patiently waiting for the stamp set to arrive so that I can finish my sample for my workshop at DAT'S on May 5th...as soon as it is done, I will post the final product...I hear there are only 4 more spots left!  Yay, I'm so excited to be teaching my first workshop!

Stamps:  Magnolia - Edwin Playing Guitar, MFT Sentimental About Birthdays
Paper:  7 Gypsies Paddington - 6x6, Coordination's - various grey and black
Ink:  Memento Black, CTMH Black
Copic Markers :  C00, C0, C1, C2, C3, C4, C6, N1, N3, N5, N6 , N8, EOOO, EOO,

Adorn Those Corners!

This week at Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog we would like you to 'Adorn Those Corners' of your images!  You can adorn your corners with stitching, pearls, die cuts, flowers etc.  The possibilities are endless.  Our Sponsor this week is Simon Says Stamps.

I chose to make a gift tag...a large one, but that's okay.  Don't we all have a few "large" gifts to give every year?!?  The image is from Magnolia and I coloured this guy last year just after Christmas and he's been patiently waiting to get onto a project.
I cut him out with my Spellbinders Mitten die and then distressed the background with some CTMH inks.  The Sketch is #308 from Splitcoast Stampers...I haven't played along with these in a long time, but it was such a great sketch I couldn't resist.  I am also going to enter my card over at All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge - Make a Tag

I made the top of my tag with my Spellbinders Labels 16 and then cut the background by hand.  I added Zva jewles to every corner to make the whole thing sparkle.

Stamps:  Magnolia
Paper:  Bo Bunny Magical Winter
Ink: Copic Markers, CTMH Pansy Purple, Indian Corn Blue, Bamboo
Accessories:  Spellbinders Mitten Die, Labels 16 Die, Zva Jewels

Here is my entry...what do you think?
I used the sketch over at Just Magnolia - Week 64, and it turns out my card qualifies for The Pink Elephant too, whose challenge is brown this week.  This is totally not the card that I went into my craft room to create right now, but I was inspired...what can I say?

Cupcake Birthday!

It's Monday...'nuf said.  Today I've got a couple of birthday cards for you.  The cupcake is from Magnolia and it's called Love Muffin!  heehee!  I paired this image with my K & Company Berry Sweet papers to make these fun Birthday cards.
The sentiment is from StamingBella...and I've realized that I am seriously lacking in "Happy Birthday" stamps.  Hmmm, I'll have to do something about that!   The layout is courtesy of Club Anya and Friends Sketch #14, which I first saw on Sparkles Blog.
I remembered to take a picture of the Copics that I used for these cards:

I hope you're all having a great day.

Have you been on the Paper Sundaes Sponsor Appreciation Blog Hop yet?  If not, be sure to check it out, there are plenty of prizes to be won!

We've got more fun with this week's Challenge.  We challenge you to "Build a Paper Sundae"!  How do you build a Paper Sundae?

Three scoops of ice cream: 3 patterned papers
Two toppings: 2 different cardstocks

I had a lot of fun making this card...it made me wish for Summer and it's months away!  Because I made this card well in advance (yeah me!) I was able to add a little extra, and I hand stitched around the edge of the card with yellow embroidery floss.  I just love the look!

The layout of my card is courtesy of Card Patterns Sketch#55...I just discovered these ladies and they have some fabulous sketches!  My card also qualifies for:

Paper Sundaes Challenge #8

This week at Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog we have a colour challenge.  The colours are Hollyhock, Crystal Blue and Sweet Leaf...or whichever colours you have that match the closest.  Lucky for me, I have CTMH Cardstock and so I had these colours in my stash!

The image is Tilda with Bunny from Magnolia's Easter Collection a few years back.  I coloured her back before Christmas, and was just lucky that she worked so beautifully with these colours.  I added some some printed ribbon and a white prima flower with a button to complete the layout, which is is not my own. The sentiment is from the CTMH set Eastertime.  I also used the small flower from this set to stamp Hollyhock ink onto the Hollyhock paper...not sure if you can see that so well.

Thank you to everyone who left comments about my hats.  It's so much fun to see my kids enjoying them...and they are much easier to spot in a crowd now!

Stamps:  Tilda with Bunny, CTMH Eastertime
Paper:  CTMH Hollyhock, Crystal Blue, Sweet Leaf

Happy Birthday

I made this card with the Just Magnolia Week 44 in mind, which was to make a birthday card.  It seems like I have a lot of birthdays in the coming weeks, so I'm making a few extra to have on hand.  This Tilda was inked up months ago, I just had to fnish her hair and shoes (how weird is that, colour an image except hair and shoes?)  I grabbed my CTMH Key To My Heart paper pack and went to work with OCC Sketch for Feb 27th.
All in all, the card came together fairly quickly and after I was finished I realized that I also qualified for the Raise The Bar Challenge which is to use things in groups of 3.

Today's funny kid story:  The little one who is 4 1/2 has finally decided that she is going to drink cold milk and so I told her that it was good for her bones and muscles.  That caused both kids to start showing off their muscles and flexing their arms.  The big kid flexed quite nicely and I commented that she had nice biceps and she replied "No Mom, I have girl-ceps!"  LOL!   Kids say the craziest things.

Stamps:  Magnolia Dalecarlia Coat Tilda, Stamping Bella Happy Birthday Sentiment
Paper:  CTMH Key To My Heart Collection, Juniper, Tulip, Creme Brulee
Ink:  Copic Markers, Memento Rhubarb

Happy Birthday Love Muffin!

So, underneath all that glitz and pearls is a muffin with hearts.  It is aptly named "Love Muffin" and is a Magnolia Accessory item.  I just can't bring myself to leave the hearts on there...maybe some day.  I actually coloured and glittered and pearled this item up about 6 months ago...no lie!  It's been sitting in my "coloured images" pile since then.  I finally found a sketch that I liked that it woudl work with and voila, a card!
The sketch is from Verve however, nothing else is.  I found the sketch at Mercy's Blog, and I thought it was her Tuesday Sketch, until I actually read the post and realized I was very wrong.  However, I think it makes a cute Birthday Card, perfect for someone at work or a teacher.

I have signed up for an Etsy account, so that I can start trying to sell my extra cards, I have just not found the time to upload any pictures.  I'm making that my goal for March, to upload some pictures and perhaps sell a few cards!  Now, I'm off to finish the little one's hat (she told the sitter today that I knit slow!  Imagine!)

Sparkly & Bright

Whew, thank goodness for Fridays! Not much to report today...finally caught an episode of Grey's Anatomy...felt like I never even left!  LOL!

Today's card uses Splitcoast Sketch #259 and  the cute Snowman from the Magnolia.  I coloured him that day when I got together with BananaStamper.  The papers are some old My Mind's Eye 29th Dream Street stuff I had in my stash.

Slowly, I am trying to make a dent in my stash.  Making cards to post 5 days a week is definitely helping, haha!  My card qualifies for the All That Scraps Challenge this week!  Yeah me! And big thanks to Christine for helping me out! :)  And, I can add it to my collection of cards for next Christmas!

Don't forget to scroll down, there is still time to win my Blog Candy...and be sure to visit Paper Sundaes Blog on Sunday for our very first challenge!

Welcome to the first ever Paper Sundaes Blog Hop! If you have arrived here from Crystal's Blog then you are on the right track! If not, please go back to the start at Christine so you don't miss any of the beautiful inspiring cards or blog candy!

I used Claudia's sketch over on the Friday Sketcher Blog, and tried my hand at Paper Pleating, which was the challenge at Just Magnolia.  I love the way the patterned paper pleated.  All of my Patterned Paper is from Bo Bunny's Kitchen Spice Collection, as are the flowers on the top left.  The little flower on my tag is a tiny little Prima Flower that I've had since forever...don't you just love it when you use stuff like that?!  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things and of course, my girl is Tilda with Tulips.  I distressed the edges of all my papers with CTMH Tulip ink and coloured my image with Copic Markers.

So, I'd love to hear from you! Leave a comment on my Blog to be entered for this My Favorite Stamps set, Monsters Ink.  I will use Random Generator to pick the winner, so go on, tell me what you think.  Candy will close at 5pm EST on Saturday January 16th...so tell all your friends!

I hope that you're enjoying the hop so far!  The next stop on Blog Hop is Kristina. Make sure you check out her beautiful card! Don't forget to keep your eye out for candy along the way. A Speedy Recovery

This is my second post for today, be sure to scroll down and check out my card for The Rubber Cafe!

A few days ago, I found out that the Mom of a friend of my little one's (did you get that?! LOL!) named Lauri, fell and broke her leg quite badly over the Christmas Break.  I knew right away that I wanted to make her a card to cheer her up, and to let her know that we are thinking about her.

I started out using the sketch from KL Stampin N Scrappin Blog and the I realized that the Challenge over at Crazy 4 Challenges was to use Dots.  I pulled out this great paper, and actually used the backside, which had dots.  The image, I snagged way back in the summer from Splitcoast on the Canadian Swapping Thread.  My sentiment is from Stamping Bella.  I added in a few flowers, some brads and a few Kaiser Pearls and voila...a card to brighten her day!  This one actually came together rather quickly, and I have to tell you that the sketch is so much fun to work with.  I have another card with the same sketch half finished on my table at home!  Can't wait to show you that one too!

Peace on Earth - Tilda & C4C15

So, this card was a whole year in the making...literally!  This was one of the first images that I coloured using my copics.  I got it done back in April at the LSS Scrap-weekend.  The whole card was finished that day with the exception of a sentiment.  And there it sat, and sat, and sat.  I'm not sure why I had such a hard time with it...the card is cute enough.  So, in an effort to clean out unfinished "stuff" I pulled out a Stampendous sentiment I got at Archivers for $1.99 and finished the card.   As it turns out, my card qualifies for the Crazy for Challenges Week 15 challenge to use Snowflakes!

Today was a super busy day, which is why I am so late posting.  My parents arrived home from +26 weather in Florida to -26 weather here...what a shock for them!  They spent the morning with the little one and her class at a local farm, then we all went to the school in the afternoon to watch the Christmas Concert for the big kid.  Then the little one went skating and after that we all did the School Family Advent Mass.  Whew!  We finally walked in the door at 8:45, almost an hour past bed time.  Thankfully, the kids were exhausted and they went right to sleep.

Todays Question:  What is the one present that you have secretly wanted for Christmas, but know you will never get?  For me , this is totally un-craft related.  I have always wanted a Kitchen-Aid Mixer...you know the professional one with the different mixing hooks, that you can buy the pasta making attachment for etc.    Yep, that's my secret dream.  A mixer.  LOL!  What do you want for Christmas this year?

Santa Claus is Coming!

Well, the tree is up.  Things were crazy busy, so it was done in stages...but it's done.  We turned the lights on outside for the first time last night too.  But, what really makes it feel like Christmas is the -29 celsius weather.  LOL!

Today's card took me a whole week to finally get together.  My kiddo's usually get out of bed at 6:30 am, and I plant them in front of the TV for an hour while I get myself ready.  The last few weeks the little one has been getting up around 6, sometimes a little earlier.  I've used the extra time to putter in my scrap room before I start getting ready for the day.

The layout is based on Magnolia Sketch Week 33, and I really wanted to follow the sketch closely.  I just love this Magnolia stamp, Jolly Tilda.  The paper is from Cosmo Cricket. I coloured the image with my copics, of course!  And, I rushed to get it all glued down yesterday because the sun was shining and at 3:20 pm when I took this picture, the sun was already setting.  Did I mention that I hate winter?

Todays Question:  If you could transport yourself anywhere instantly, where would you go and why?  Okay, this one should be obvious, and I'm sure the answer would be different every day of the week, but today I would want to be in California...preferably Southern California.  When I was pregnant with my first daughter, the hubby and I were fortunate enough to spend a week in San Diego.  It was wonderful.  The weather was perfect, the people were friendly and there was so much to see and do.   Where would you go?

Stamps:  Magnolia Jolly Tilda, Santa is Coming

Ink:  Copic Markers, CTMH Juniper (for the Santa is Coming Circle)

Tilda Angel

Well, look at that!  I posted a card every day this week.  I'm so proud of me!  And, I've decided that as much as I know you all love reading about how I made my cards, I know that my favorite part of reading someone's blog is the little bits of  info I learn about them, or the funny stories...even though I don't know them.  So, with that in mind, I have downloaded 25 questions from an Ice Breaker exercise, and each time that I post, I will answer one question...but at the end, so you still have to read about how I made my card!  LOL!

This card uses my new Sparkling Tilda stamp from Magnolia.  The layout uses Mojo Sketch 104.  The paper is Imaginisce - Santa's Secret Garden...and you can't really see it in the picture, but it has some sparkle to it.  I used some white Fun Flock on her wings, and they look all fluffy in real life.  The pretty Poinsettia is from Prima Flowers.  This was a quick and easy card to make too...so much that I actually made 3 the same.

Today's Question:  What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will?   Hmmm...let's step out of the craft room for this one.  I have this pair of jeans...I'm sure we've all got a pair...that I wore in the 11th grade.  They are Button Fly Ikeda Jeans...anyone remember those?  They were the most comfortable jeans I had ever worn, and they are in a box in my basement.  I remember the store that I bought them at, and the day that I tried them on and purchased them like it was yesterday.

What do you have that you should throw away?  Leave a comment, I'd love to hear about it!

Peace on Earth

Another day closer to Christmas...are you ready?

I am so NOT ready.  No tree up at our house yet, no decorations and no presents wrapped.  But, I do have a great Christmas card to show you!  LOL!

I used the Splitcoast Sketch #257 for this card, and my Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses Paper.  The stamp is Sitting Tilda with Glitter, and she is so much fun!  Once I coloured her blue dress, I used pink glitter on her wings and then gold stickles on her crown.   I aslo added some glitter on the snowflake.   You really can't see the sparkle on this card, but in real life it sparkles a lot.

The Sentiment is from CTMH and I masked it to get it on 2 lines, rather than just straight across.  Tilda is popped up onthe card, so it really does look like she's sitting on the ribbon.

Thanks for looking today.

Inky Impressions DT Call Ornament Challenge

Whew, it's the start of another week...and that many days closer to Christmas!  I was so happy on Friday to receive my new Magnolia Images that I ordered from The Stamp Shoppe.  I knew that they were exactly what I wanted to use to participate in the Inky Impressions Design Team Call.

I have been a "lurker" over at Inky Impressions for a while...just checking out their great stamps and seeing what everyone is doing with them.  When this DT call came out, I knew right away that I wanted to throw my name in the hat.  With two little girls of my own, Angelica, Lili and the other girls over at Inky Impressions are perfect for my stamping needs and tastes!

On to my Ornaments....I couldn't stop at one, so I made two!  First, I stamped my images in Memento Ink on Neenah 80lb paper (love that stuff!).  I used my copics to colour the images and then used some
Cotton Ball White Fun Flock on Tilda's hat and her wings.  I pulled out my Nestabilities and some Bo Bunny Paper.  I used CTMH inks and a sponge to distress the edges of both my cut outs, since the paper that I was using was a lighter green than I wanted, and the hard edge of the Bo Bunny Paper needed some softening.  Normally I like to match my colouring to my papers, but this time I coloured the image first and lucked out that the Bo Bunny Kitchen Spice papers matched my colours.  Before I cut my images out, I used a grey marker to outline both images.  Not only does it save me from cutting to close to the image, I think it gives a nice border, so that the image isn't too harsh against my background.  And, I have to tell you, my favourite thing about colouring Tilda's is her hair.  I don't know why, but I just love colouring her hair.  I've yet to master a black haired Tilda, but I've definitely been working on it.

I pop dotted both of my Tilda's on the backgrounds, and then played with different embellishments before I finally found what I liked.  You'll see that my first ornament has "baubles" (cause I don't know what they're called, I received them from a Secret Sister Swap - thanks Jenny!) and the second has little jewels.  Once I added Stickles to Tilda's Halo, I knew that jewels were the way to go with my second ornament.   Finally, I added some ribbon to the back and voila!  Christmas Ornaments!

These were a lot of fun to make, and so much less work than I imagined.  It's too late for this year, 'cause I have other plans, but I can see making a whole bunch of ornaments for next year.  Perhaps I'll add that to my "making Christmas Cards all year long" goal.

So, keep your fingers crossed for me for the DT call.  Even if I don't make it, I hope that you like what I've made.

More Christmas!

I had this background paper hanging around for almost 18 months now. I made it for a "Background Paper Swap" over on the CTMH Bulletin Boards. We were supposed to add something to it, and I added stickles to the centers of the snowflakes. Colours used were Hollyhock, Blush and Baby Pink. I was actually quite happy with the way it turned out, but since I was only left with a 6x6 piece for myself, I just kept looking at it waiting for the right image.

Well, this Tilda came along, and she coloured up quite nicely. I always feel like I have a hard time making the "lighter" colours with copics. I'm very happy with how this turned out. It's been so long since I used patterned paper that I made myself. I love how everything is all "matchy matchy"...the ink, the paper etc. That's the one thing I love about being a CTMH Consultant...even if it is just for hobby purposes.

Tilda and Flowersoft

Well, cards are a creative process, and although I do some of my best work alone, I will frequently take my cards down the street to Shanna's and see what she has to add. This is one of those cards. I'm unsure of where to go with it. Take a look...

I just recently acquired the couch/sofa from Magnolia Stamps and thought this would be a great use. But, now that I've got Tilda on there, I'm not so sure. I'm afraid to add flowers...and buttons don't seem quite right. I'm thinking that a Sentiment in the top left corner might do it, but I am unsure of my shape....maybe a circle with a scalloped circle in a coordinating colour surrounding it?

The worst part is that I carried the design through to the inside of the card...and except that it doesn't really have a purpose, it's a great card. It's been sitting on my desk for almost 2 weeks now waiting for me to get some inspiration. I sure would hate to have it just sit in my stash....can you offer any suggestions?

Happy Birthday Cupcake!

What a great day! I golfed today...and it was 32 degrees out! Can I say it again, what a great day! I only golf a few times each year, and today is one of them. Every year I golf in the Queen of Hearts Golf Tournament to raise money for Cardiac Care in Thunder Bay. I am joined by my Mother and my good friend Allyson. It has never failed to be a great day of golfing, but this is the first year where the weather has been our friend. To top it all off, when I got home tonight, the babysitter had not only done the dishes, but she'd bathed my kids too! Can a girl ask for more?

So, here is my card for today. I used the Magnolia Stamps Love Muffin. I don't remember who made the paper, it came from my stash. I have been searching for a quick and easy template for birthday cards, so that I can make a bunch and have a small stash on hand, but also so that I can whip something up if I need it last minute...kind of like my "go to" design I guess. I'm not convinced that this is it. However, I did take the opportunity to try some Twinkling H2O's...not my favourite. I had a really hard time photographing the shimmer...it's the cupcake icing. I coloured the cupcake with my copics first, and then put on the H2O's. Either way, it's a nice card, but I'm not a big fan.

The only reason I tried the H2O's is because our local LSS isn't carrying Shimmerz and I wanted to give them a try. She had these in her stash and let me try them out at home. I have some Shimmerz just waiting to be played with, so hopefully I'll be back in a day or two with a card to compare it to. I do have to say....just looking at the bottles they look like so much fun!

Have a great day and I'll post more tomorrow.

Mother's Day Card

Okay, I don't do so good under pressure, which is why I will never be on a Design Team, even though I would love to try out for some. I don't have a lot of time to just make cards, and especially for the few weeks that we had in May before Mother's Day. Needless to say, my Mom got her Mother's Day card and gift a week late. I think that she knows that I love her, every day, not just on Mother's Day, and so it is the thought more than anything.
I really wanted to make my mom a card with Tilda, and I had this one coloured up to match this CTMH paper, so I worked with it. And, I pulled out and dusted off my Cricut to cut the scalloped pieces...can't wait to get my new room done and have the Cricut out and set up all the time! So, a simple card for my mom, because I don't think my love needs to be flashy, just genuine!
Stamps: Magnolia Stamps Tilda in Cherry Dress, CTMH Sentiment set
