Think Green!

Happy start of a new week! Today over at Paper Sundaes the challenge is to use green on your card.  I was inspired by Clean and Simple Stamping's Fall to Sketch #179.  In fact, I like it enough that I made 2 of these cards to add to my stash.

Today is shaping up to be a lazy day here.  I'm looking forward to lounging around and perhaps finally kicking this darned cough/cold that I've been hanging onto for the past 2 weeks.  Have a good one.

Fabulous Friday Challenge

Happy Friday!  Today's challenge over on the PCP group i {heart} copics is recipe challenge:  2 Patterned Papers, 5 Coloured Copic Things, 1 Image (I can't get the exact wording, because I can't connect to PCP, but as soon as I can, I'll fix that.  On to my card:

Totally cased this one from Sparkle...more specifically, this card here.  If you're ever looking for some great sketches, Sparle seems to have it down to a science...sometimes it's easier to surf her blog to find great sketches than to wander the blogs! Anyway, with the card layout case'd, I pulled out my Basic Grey Urban Prairie Papers and some embellishments and got to work. 
Can you believe that all of the embellishments are coloured with copics...seriously!  I coloured both flowers (and some ribbon that I didn't end up using) with my copic markers and then the little gems were clear one's but I wanted them to match everything else, so I coloured those as well.  I was impress too, because I coloured them and then stuck them on my projects and no colour transfer at all!  Finally, I coloured the brad for my flowers center and voila...perfectly matched embellishments!

i {heart} copics Fabulous Friday Challenge #6

It's Friday the 19th of March...guess what arrived in my mailbox yesterday?  NEW MOON! Yup, my DVD pre-order showed up 2 days early!  Bwahahahaha!  Guess what I'm doing tonight after work!

Okay, on to today's post...hang in there, it's a long one!

Oh my gosh, how fun is this?  Have you ever checked out Pixel Geek Designs?  They aren't just digital scrapbooking...they have these really great templates too!

I purchased the Square Box with Handle template and printed it on a piece of 8 1/2 x 12 paper.  Then, I cut it all out and scored all my folds.  I was smart enough to do a tester before I didn my actual box, so that I was able to see how to put it together...and it was quite simple actually.  I used my Nestabilities to cut circles in two side of the box, so that my Easter Goodies would show through.

I used My Mind's Eye Ooh-La-La papers, Chicken Girl Desing Digi Stamps Eggstra-Special Bunny and CC Designs Sugarplums Easter Emma.  I placed Easter Emma on the front of my little treat box, and then cropped and resized the egg from my Eggstra-Special Bunny digi stamp to use on the back.

Finally, I used the sketch from PCP Saturday Sketche for March 13th, opting to put my sentiment on the inside of my card. 

Whew!  Lastly, I ran to the store to find Easter Candy to put into my treat box!  My husband came down to the scrap room to ooh! and aah! over my project, and he commented how nicely the box stays together...and it really does.  I only used a little adhesive on the side where the box wraps around...the rest just nest's together nicely.  Love it!  I can see making many more projects with this template.

Just a quick note on adhesive.  I have a Scotch ATG gun, and it's a monster...but it works beautifully.  But OMG!  Kate sent me some of her i {stick} papers red line tape...this stuff is like super glue!  Super easy to use, super sticky and I'm sure I'll be buying lots of it in the future!

Sparkles Christmas Card Challenge

This week over at Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenges, Sparkle has a sketch for us.  I am a sucker for a good sketch, and I havne't made a Christmas card in a few weeks, so I pulled out my Swiss Pixies Nora stamp and my Bo Bunny Snowy Serenade papers and got to work.

I have to admit, I had a heck of a time with this paper.  This is the fourth time that I have pulled this paper out to use it for a card...the patterns are so large I have a hard time covering up all the good glittery stuff.  However, Sparkles sketch works perfectly!  I used my EK Success Snowflake punch to punch snowflakes in both the blue and the purple and then I covered them in two different Stickles and I used the stickles on the edge of my circle and some purple stickles to accent Nora's outfit!  I'm not sure that the texture of the card translates so well to the screen, but the ribbon that runs across the card is actually tapesty edging that I purchased at my local fabric store a few months back...the colour is perfect, it makes the card feel meaty in your hands, like it has some real weight to it.  I finished this off by cutting out Nora and popping her on the card.  I stamped my greeting and voila...another Christmas Card to add to the stash!

Plus, my card qualifies for a couple of extra challenges!  At Copic Creations, where they are celebrating their 1 year blogoversary the challenge was to use a technique that had been featured over the past year.  I chose feather blending, which I'm hoping you can see on her little coat. And the Challenge over at Fab 'n' Funky Challenges was to use something new...and all my stickles were new, and it was the first time I inked up this stamp! Happy Thursday!

Get Sketchy #26

My friends and I are just getting to the age where we can legitimately start joking about age when birthday's roll around, so I whipped up this card to have in my stash.  The layout is from Get Sketchy, a sketch blog that I've looked at a lot but never taken the opportunity to play.  This sketch was just too inviting not to create something.

The little girl is from the new CC Designs Spring Kit I got over at All That Scraps.  I paper pieced her little outfit and then coloured her wings and laid on the stickles.  They are much shinier in person.  The sentiment is from a new Sentiment set that I picked up on my trip at the beginning of the month.  It's from Kraftin' Kimmie..and I have to say that I checked out her website and her sentiment stamps are just adorable...I can see buying more of these!

On a non-papercrafting note...I just have to do the last few rows of my next hat and then sew up the back and I'll have the little one model it for you...I'm thinking you'll see pictures on Thursday!

Swiss Pixie Christmas Card

Is it Friday yet?  Nope, just Thursday...and Thursday is one of my busiest days of the week.  So, I was able to take some time last night and make a few cards so that I don't have to rush to make a new card every day.  I'll have a few on backup just in case things get really hectic.  And they're gonna get hectic, so you'll have to keep reading below to see why.

  So, I threw this card together in literally 15 minutes.  The image was already coloured, and now that I see it on the screen I realize that her little ornament should either be red or have some sparkle, so I'll be fixing that tonight.  The Paper is Cosmo Cricket Jolly By Golly and the Sentiment is AmyR Stamps.  I got this image through the Canadian Snag Group over on SCS, and it was interesting to colour.  I'm pretty sure she's on Gina K paper, and it was my first time using this paper, so the blending was slightly different than with my Neenah Paper.  Anywhoo...add this one to the every growing pile of Christmas Cards!

So, why are things going to get hectic you ask?  Well, I'm trying to write a story...which I will share with you when it is finished, and I'm very slowly plugging away at the storyboard for a novel - some of which I may share on my other blog, and in 2 weeks I'm going to visit my very bestest friend in the whole world!  She lives in London, ON and has been there for 10 years.  Goodness knows why, but I've never managed to get there to visit before and I'm so excited to be going!  So, I'll be trying to make extra cards over the next couple of weeks so that I can keep up my schedule of posting every day of the working week, plus my DT posts!  And, I've found a couple of great Scrappin' and Stampin' stores in London that she's agreed to take me to!

2 Challenges in 1

Hey everyone!  Christmas is finally over, and I just can't stop making Christmas cards!  LOL!  This one came together quite quickly for me.  I used this weeks Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #96 and was also able to incorporate Sparkles Christmas Card Challenge Week #5 which was to use buttons.  And, to top it all off, I used the new Imaginisce Snowy Jo Papers and CC Designs Stamps that I picked up at The Scrapping Cottage. 

This little cutie is Santa Emma, and she sits on my card so perfectly.  I had lots of fun colouring her with my Copics, and then I used some Crystal Stickles on her hat, pompom and belt buckle.  It's hard to see, but I also used the Stickles around the scallop edge.
