Valentine #2

Well, it looks like I'm on a roll with the Valentine's this week!  Was chatting with Bananastamper earlier this evening and she challenged me to get posting away on my blog.  So, after the kids were in bed I grabbed a Vodka Cooler (or 3), my piano music and shut the door to my craft room and got down to business.  I'm actually quite pleased with how this turned out.
There are A LOT OF LAYERS on this card.  I just kept adding and adding.  I started out with this week's Sketch over at Sunday Sketch and Stamp.  It's been a long time since I entered any of my cards in challenges, but I think I'm going to try a little harder this year to do just that.

I also stamped the inside of my card, just something simple.

I am entering my card in the following challenges:

Sunday Sketch and Stamp - Sketch
Crazy 4 Challenges - use a Bow
The Paper Players - Love is in the Air

Stamps:  Pure Innocence Paper Dolls
Paper:  Bo Bunny Crazy Love Collection, CTMH Tulip, MFT Red Hot, Bazzill Pink & Brown
Ink:  CTMH Black, Memento Black, Copics  E00, E35 and R29

My First Valentine of 2013

Oh my gosh, it's so hard to believe that its 2013 and I'm making Valentine's cards already!  Ya know, I really love the idea of Valentine's Day, but the ex and I never, ever celebrated it.  I'm not really sure why we didn't.  I vaguely remember a conversation 18 years ago when we met about how it was a commercialized holiday blah blah blah...so I guess it has something to do with that conversation.  Funny how we do things because its what we've always done, huh?

Anyway, I like the idea of setting aside some time to let the person you're with know that they are special to you, but in a private kinda way if that makes sense.  I don't buy into the whole idea that you have to go out to dinner, or hire a sitter and sneak away somewhere.  I think I'd be happy with an acknowledgement that I'm special to someone...just because I'm me.  Maybe a nice quiet dinner after the kids are in bed.  Nothing fancy.  No flowers or chocolates necessary, a hug will do.
However, if you have a special someone who requires gifts...lol...I made a card with a gift card holder built right in.  I really do love my Gift Card Pocket - Horizontal Die-namic.  I've used it on a few cards you'll see coming up.  I especially love that the gift card becomes a part of the card.  Wouldn't you love to get a spa gift card in here...or maybe a home made "coupon" from your sweetie.  The possibilities are endless really.
What really makes me happy about this card is that I was able to use some paper that I had leftover from last year, and I used an MS punch that hasn't seen daylight in a long time.  The stamp set is the new Lovey Dovey Sentiments from MFT Stamps.

So tell me...do you like Valentine's Day or not?

Stamps:  MFT Lovey Dovey Sentiments
Paper:  Black, Sweet Tooth, Bazzill White, Bo Bunny A Gift of Love (really old paper, lol)
Ink: Versamark Black, MFT Wild Cherry
Accessories:  MFT Dienamic - Gift Card Pocket - Horizontal, Spellbinders Hearts, MS Hearts Border Punch, Dollar Store Red Jewels

Tickled Pink - Valentines!

This week over at Paper Sundaes, our sponsor is Tickled Pink Stamps and our challenge is to make a Valentine.   I wasn't in much of a pink mood, so chocolate and red is what I chose when I pulled out these fun Bo Bunny papers to play with.   The image is Lil Birthday Kellita and I originally got her last year for a Christmas challenge.  I just love that you can change the colours on an image like this and use it for a whole different holiday!
I know that some call it "hoarding" but I prefer the term "saving for a rainy day" when it comes to 6x6 paper pads.  I am beginning to wonder though, if perhaps I have more than I could possibly use.  A friend of mine, Donna, has started to make multiples of her cards for her stash....I think I may just take a look at doing that too.  This card was an quick one to pull together and could be used with a variety of papers that I have in my stash.  The layout is from Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #46.  I'm not even sure how I came across this one, but the layout pulled me in and I couldn't not play with it.  Check it out, she has some great sketches!

Today, both girls are having friends over to play.  We bought lots of play doh especially for this...the girls are just in love with playing Cake Boss and having cake making competitions.  I'm hoping to capture a few pictures of their creations for sharing this week...we'll see what they come up with!

Stamps:  Tickled Pink Lil Birthday Kellita, Sentiment: Amy R
Paper:  Bo Bunny Crazy Love, Brown & Red
Ink:  Copic Markers
Accessories:  Oval Nestabilities, Prima Flowers, CTMH Brad, Heart cutout from a MS Border Punch

Well, if you know me, you know I'm not big on Valentine's Day.  Mainly that is because my husband has never believed in it, and so why set yourself up for disappointment every year?  So, we just pretend it's another day around here.  Except...I let the kids have some fun with it.  The last 2 years, my now 7 year old has gone on a "date" with the same friend who is a boy.  This year, the 4 year old is having a few friends from daycare over to make heart shaped Pizza's and decorate heart cookies.  I'm making invitations and finalizing plans this week, so I'll have those to show you soon.

But, while I had out the Valentine's goodies, I made up this card using Taylored Expressions Sketch #97.  What a fun and easy sketch.  The image is from The Greeting Farm, and it's digital so I was able to make it a little bit smaller than I think it would be on rubber.  I coloured it with my copics, and then wrapped it all up in a ribbon.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things and I have to tell you, the Essential Sentiments set from MFT is now my "go to" stamp set.  I've used it for so many different cards!  The paper is Bo Bunny Love Bandit and I purchased it at The Scrapbooking Cottage...she's got this paper for 30% off during January, so get over there and buy some!

Happy Monday.
