Sparkles Chistmas Card Challenge

I am super excited to tell you that I am the guest designer this week over at Sparkles Christmas Card Challenge --- so much fun!  This week's Challenge is to use Border Punches somewhere on your card. 

I can't believe that August is already 1/2 over...we're that much closer to Christmas...and this year I'll have a variety of cards to choose from rather than rushing through making the same card for days in December!

Sparkles Christmas Card Challenge

This week over at Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenges, Sparkle has a sketch for us.  I am a sucker for a good sketch, and I havne't made a Christmas card in a few weeks, so I pulled out my Swiss Pixies Nora stamp and my Bo Bunny Snowy Serenade papers and got to work.

I have to admit, I had a heck of a time with this paper.  This is the fourth time that I have pulled this paper out to use it for a card...the patterns are so large I have a hard time covering up all the good glittery stuff.  However, Sparkles sketch works perfectly!  I used my EK Success Snowflake punch to punch snowflakes in both the blue and the purple and then I covered them in two different Stickles and I used the stickles on the edge of my circle and some purple stickles to accent Nora's outfit!  I'm not sure that the texture of the card translates so well to the screen, but the ribbon that runs across the card is actually tapesty edging that I purchased at my local fabric store a few months back...the colour is perfect, it makes the card feel meaty in your hands, like it has some real weight to it.  I finished this off by cutting out Nora and popping her on the card.  I stamped my greeting and voila...another Christmas Card to add to the stash!

Plus, my card qualifies for a couple of extra challenges!  At Copic Creations, where they are celebrating their 1 year blogoversary the challenge was to use a technique that had been featured over the past year.  I chose feather blending, which I'm hoping you can see on her little coat. And the Challenge over at Fab 'n' Funky Challenges was to use something new...and all my stickles were new, and it was the first time I inked up this stamp! Happy Thursday!

Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge Week 12

Okay, the challenge was to create a card with a winter sport on it, in honor of Sparkles trip to the Olympics.  Hmmm, I wonder...is spectating a sport?  I'm not much of a winter sports girl...I'd much rather be sitting at home with a cup of cocoa, a good book and a blanket to keep me warm.  Thank goodness the hubby doesn't mind the cold!

So, I created this card with Sparkles challenge in mind.  I got the use my new EK Success Snowflake Punch and I covered with Diamond Stickles and then popped a button on top.  The Image is Stamping Bella and I used some white Fun Flock for the cuffs on her jacket and boots and on the hood of her jacket.  My image is from Amy R's stamps and voila...another Christmas Card to add to the collection!

I'm supposed to be at BananaStampers today finishing off a top secret project, but month end, sick kids and life have gotten in the way.  I'm hoping to get there just after lunch, and if all goes well we'll pick up the kiddo's, throw some Pizza at them and put on a movie while we continue to work on our secret project (are you curious what it is? - it's a secret...I can't tell you!)  LOL! Hopefully we won't have to wait too long to show you what it is.

Sparkles Christmas Card Challenge#8

Whoops!  This post originally posted with no words so I'll keep it short and sweet.  I made this card for Sparkles Christmas Card Challenge # 8 which was to not colour on your card.  I'm pleased with the results.

Paper used is Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly and I can totally see myself making a few more of these!

2 Challenges in 1

Hey everyone!  Christmas is finally over, and I just can't stop making Christmas cards!  LOL!  This one came together quite quickly for me.  I used this weeks Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #96 and was also able to incorporate Sparkles Christmas Card Challenge Week #5 which was to use buttons.  And, to top it all off, I used the new Imaginisce Snowy Jo Papers and CC Designs Stamps that I picked up at The Scrapping Cottage. 

This little cutie is Santa Emma, and she sits on my card so perfectly.  I had lots of fun colouring her with my Copics, and then I used some Crystal Stickles on her hat, pompom and belt buckle.  It's hard to see, but I also used the Stickles around the scallop edge.

Sparkles Christmas Card Challenge Week#32

Woohoo! Another Christmas card finished for Sparkles Christmas Card Challenge and to add to the pile. At first, I didn't think this card was going to work for the challenge, but I let it sit for a few days, and when I went back to it last night, it all came together quite nicely. I started by pulling out my CTMH Paper pack (of course, I don't know the name of it, but I'll update this tonight after the kids are in bed). I decided to do a two-tone card. Now, to see if I got everything on Sparkle's List:
1 coloured cardstock? check - I used Cranberry to matte!
2 stamps? check - got the Wreathabella from Wish RAK and the HO was from High Hopes!
2 embellishments? check - Ribbon, Flowers and Brads oh my! (sorry the kids have been watching the Wizard of Oz a lot lately)
5 pieces of paper - check!
Yeah! I'm so happy that I was not only able to finish, but to finish and meet all the criteria! I really enjoyed this sketch, and I think you may see it popping up again from time to time!

BONUS INFO! Michael's is having a sale on their poster board - the white stuff you use to make a picture taking box. I picked up enough for me and my friend Shanna...she doesn't know it yet but I'm going to be calling her today to get together and make photo boxes. You see, it has been so windy her lately that taking pictures of cards outside in the sunlight has been near impossible. Hopefully, the new boxes will help us out in that regard. Wish me luck!

Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenege Week #31

Yippeee! I made it on time. Not only did I make it (the card I mean) but I posted it in time too! To see Sparkle's Sketch, click here.

The sentiment doesn't exactly go with the stamp set, but I think it turned out cute. This is the kind of card I would sent to a friend who lives outside Canada and I would write something inside about Christmas in Thunder Bay (my hometown). Definitely not traditional colours here...but I like it. Now that I look back, I think most of my cards have been pink and green...maybe I need to go more traditional! LOL!

I can't wait to see what Sparkle comes up with next week. I'm on a roll, three in a row...can I make four?
