Fabulous Friday in 3-D!

Happy Friday!  This week over at i {heart} copics the challenge is to create something in 3D.  I struggled with this one for a bit...but once I got started it came together really quickly.  I found a quick tutorial on how to make an origami box and fashioned the lid to match.  Then I coloured up my Chicken Girl Designs image and decorated the box with My Mind's Eye papers.
Once the box was complete, I printed out more of my Chicken Girl Designs digital images and made some cute 4x4 cards to fit in the box.   The plan is to give the box and the cards to my Munckin, who wants to make cards just like her Mom.  This way, the cards are already made, she just has to personalize them by colouring the image and signing the inside.  Here us a picture of the whole ensemble.
Super fun to make, and a great gift idea for the kid who has everything.

Copics used:

Paper:  My Mind's Eye Ooh La La For Her
Ink:  Copic Markers
Accessories:  Misc. Pink Ribbon.

Primary Colours - Fabulous Friday Challenge

Today's Fabulous Friday Challenge over at i {heart} copics is to use the primary colours - Red, Yellow and Blue.   This was actually harder than I originally thought that it would be.  Once I decided on which July Release from Chicken Girl Stamps I was going to use though, it was much easier.  What do you think of Blast Off?   For my layout I used Sketch #67 at Digital Tuesday Challenge.

I printed out the sentiment "Hopy your birthday is out of this world." for the inside.  Below are the copics that I used on this image.

Okay, now onto business...with the recent release of the Twilight Saga: Eclipse movie, it has come to my attention that some Team Edward girls are contimplating a switch to Team Jacob.  At first I wasn't concerned, but when Loopy Lindsey posted about it on her blog I knew I had to take action.  Now, don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Taylor Lautner (in fact, I would be happy to be against him if you know what I mean *U*) however, I thought I would share with you a short list that I composed of Pros and Cons of switching to being a Wolf Lover

Pros
  • that Tattoo is sexy as hell...I'd lick it!
  • six pack abs, 'nuf said
  • a nice 108 degrees all year long make him nice to snuggle with on cold winter nights
  • a man who will “sit” when you tell him to. And “stay” too.
  • Can offer a human life
 Cons
  • smells like dog - 'cause honestly he aint' no AquaVelva Man!
  • fur in the bed, 'cause you never know when he's going to phase
  • kibble breath
  • no guarantees that he won’t Imprint on someone else and leave you lonely
  • you’ll live on the La Push Reservation forever
  • instead of saying I love you, he'll lick your face - yuck!

Okay, so I can't be the only one out there with some thoughts on this subject...I know you Twilight fans are out there....do you have a pro or can for being a Wolf Lover?

Fabulous Friday Sketch

It's Friday!  Finally!  I have to say this has been the longest week in a long time.  But now, the fun begins.  The kids will be on the boat with my parents for the weekend, so BananaStamper and I have planned a weekend of crafting fun at her house.  I can hardly wait!

Today's challenge over at the i {heart} copics group on PCP is a sketch.  I have run very low on my supply of Birthday cards, so I pulled out my 365 Degrees paper and go to work.  Of course, once I got my image coloured, I decided to flip the inside of the sketch to fit my image.  Hop on over to i {heart} copics to see the sketch and play along with us.

What I had a lot of fun with on this card was making my own flower.  I've seen a lot of bloggers doing it lately, and I'm fairly happy with the results.

SpiderMouse!

Hey everyone, I hope you had a great long weekend...it was stinkin' hot here, which was just perfect!  This weeks challenge over at i {heart} copics PCP group is Red, White and Blue.  Since I'm not stateside, and I celebrated Canada Day before the challenge was issued, I decided to make this fun birtdhay card for my little one's friend.
The image is from Whiff of Joy and is a digital image I got free from their blog months ago...this is the first time that he's been inked up.  He was super easy to colour and the card came together fairly quickly...I can see making a few of these for my stash.

Stamps:  Whiff of Joy Henry as Spiderman, StampingBella Sentiment
Paper:  Red, White, Blue
Ink:
Copic Markers
Accessories:  Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Folder (it's hard to see the dots in this photo...it's on the red), Stickles to make his white eyes sparkle

2 Challenges in 1...almost.

Just when you think things are going to even out...all hell breaks loose!  LOL!  Oh, the things I could say about what is happening at our house!  Not only are we dealing with medical issues, but the kids are finishing up school and my parents have moved into the basement.  All of this has actually been a blessing.  My parents are around to keep the kids company and occupied when I cannot.  This has helped tremendously.   Now that I have started to organize life a little, and we're getting used to lots of doctors appointments and question/answer sessions, I have had to accept that lots of things in our life are going to change.  One of these is the way I create.  Currently, my scrap room is in the basement, away from the rest of the house.  However, I can't seem to get myself down there these days.  So, on the weekend, I brought all my Copics upstairs and lo and behold an image got coloured.

There is still time to enter the i {heart} copics fabulous friday challenge, which is to make a card based on this image.
So, the image that I coloured was based on this inspiration.  This is the first time that I've inked up this Magnolia image...I got her at the beginning of May.

And, I chose this image, because this week's challenge over at Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog is "Pretty as a Princess"  which means to make a Girly Card...and if I had found the time this would have been so girly...and still will be just at a later date!  LOL!  There is still time to enter the Paper Sundaes challenge this week, and I just read that we are looking for Guest Designers, so head on over there for all the details!

Of course, I couldn't leave without ap picture of the copics that I used.  The unmarked one is R00

Stamps:  Princess Tilda
Paper:  Neenah 110lb

Mono-tone card

This is a card I made a few week's back for the i {heart} copics challenge...to use all markers from one of the Copic Colour Groups.  I used all Y colours and am super happy with this card.  There is a sketch in here somewhere too, but it's been too long and I didn't write it down.
The image is Lily of the Valley and is actually a Christmas Angel, but it works so perfectly.

The kids are going to be out with some friends on Saturday and I can't wait to have a few hours in the house with nothing but my crafting supplies, a big bowl of M&M's and some Pepsi.  It is amazing to me how much I crave creating when I'm doing it on a regular basis.  Somehow, I don't have the same cravings for laundry when it's gone too long between loads...go figure!  LOL!

i {heart} copics - Fabulous Friday June 4th

I'm sooooo behind on my posting...but I'm getting back on track this week.  I explain why below.

Today's card is for the i {heart} copics PCP group Fabulous Friday Challenge - Make a Father's Day card!  The only requirement is that you use Copic Markers somewhere on your card.  I had a lot of fun with this card.  I chose a Riley the Moose image and used a CTMH sentiment. All other supplies are from http://www.iheartpapers.com/  Have you shopped there before?  You should, Kate is super quick with shipping and she has a great selection of just about everything a papercrafter could want!

The fun papers are from the Pink Paislee 365 degrees collecton...some great bold prints perfect for buy cards!  The sketch is from The Sweet Stop 58 and I have to tell you, they have some of the best sketches going!

I was super psyched to find that my Kioshi Buttons matched this paper perfectly, so I popped them on there too!  And, below are the Copic markers that I used on this card.

'k...here is why I have not been posting lately.  On May 20th we found out that my husband has a brain tumor.  He turned 37 last Friday.  We're sad.  Because information is so readily available on the internet, and for the most part it isn't positive information, I had to cut the internet at home a few days after we found out so that he would stop reading the horror stories.  Of course, I have been emotionally and metally drained each day, so making cards is difficult, and knowing that I have to reattach the internet each time (I'm the techie at our house) is just too daunting a task.  However, we finally have a plan of attack and so things should settle a little bit.  And, I am hoping to be able to hook up the internet again, which will help.

I didn't want to post about the tumor on my blog until we knew something and now we know.  At this point we are going to watch the tumor to see how quickly it is growing and watch for any changes in behaviour/motor ability/mental status.  The kind of tumor that he has is operable, but because it grows into the brain (and already has) it is impossible to remove it all, and it will grow back after surgery.  Surgery will not slow the growth or improve his prognosis.  Because we think he has been having seizures, his drivers licence has been suspended and he is not working.   The days are long and the nights are longer.

However, I am a survivor...I will be made stronger by this journey.  Everything happens for a reason.  And, I stand by my favorite saying: "Everything will okay in the end.  If it's not okay, it's not the end."

Fabulous Friday at i {heart} copics

This week's challenge on the i {heart} copics group over at PCP is to make a shaped card.  I made my card a little smaller and plan to use it as a gift tag/card for a present we are giving this weekend.  I started with my Basic Grey Kioshi Paper pad and then co-ordinated my Tilda's dress to match.  I added some White Glimmer Ribbon for her to sit on and a flower to match the one in her hair.  I finished off my flower with a Basic Grey Button to match my Kioshi Papers.
All in all, I am super pleased...until I went to take my picture and I realized that my card didn't sit straight!  Argh!  So, it looks like my card was sitting on an incline when I took the picture...thank goodness for Photoshop!  LOL!

And, here are the Copic Markers that I used on my image...gotta love how those
V's blend together so nicely!

My Mom - Don't Look!

Haha, gotta love scheduled posts....this card originally posted with no words, but BIG THANKS!!!! to Lindsay and Sandra who both left comments, even though just a picture appeared!

Mom, if you are reading this post before Mother's Day - STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER....NOT FOR YOUR EYES....YET!  Lol!

I was so happy to make a "run for the border" this weekend to pick up my 2 packages of crafting supplies I had waiting for me.  One of these packages was from i {heart} papers, and included the beautiful Kioshi Papers from Basic Grey.  I have to say, they are so much prettier in person!  I used my new papers for this week's Fabulous Friday Challenge over on the i {heart} copics group on PCP...Mother's Day!  Yep, it's that easy, just make something for Mother's Day and post it in your gallery on PCP or on your Blog and then leave us a link on the i {heart} copics challenge thread so that we can all go check it out!

The image is from Pink Cat Studio and is a digital stamp...oh how I love me some PCS Digital stamps!  And, the layout is from last week's Just Us Girls Challenge 31.  I have to watch my dates better, I thought this one was open until Saturday...oh well.  Lucky for me though, Raise the Bar is looking for us to celebrate Mom this week so I'll be linking my card up over there.

So, I used the sketch, cut my papers, coloured my image and finished it off with some matching brads and two-toned ivory ribbon from i {heart} papers...is there anything this store doesn't have?

For all the Mom's out there...I hope that your Mother's Day is fabulous and you are spoiled rotten!

Fabulous Friday Challenge

Happy Friday!  Today's challenge over on the PCP group i {heart} copics is recipe challenge:  2 Patterned Papers, 5 Coloured Copic Things, 1 Image (I can't get the exact wording, because I can't connect to PCP, but as soon as I can, I'll fix that.  On to my card:

Totally cased this one from Sparkle...more specifically, this card here.  If you're ever looking for some great sketches, Sparle seems to have it down to a science...sometimes it's easier to surf her blog to find great sketches than to wander the blogs! Anyway, with the card layout case'd, I pulled out my Basic Grey Urban Prairie Papers and some embellishments and got to work.
Can you believe that all of the embellishments are coloured with copics...seriously!  I coloured both flowers (and some ribbon that I didn't end up using) with my copic markers and then the little gems were clear one's but I wanted them to match everything else, so I coloured those as well.  I was impress too, because I coloured them and then stuck them on my projects and no colour transfer at all!  Finally, I coloured the brad for my flowers center and voila...perfectly matched embellishments!

Stamps:  CC Designs, MFT Essential Sentiments
Paper:  Basic Grey Urban Prairie, CTMH Heavenly Blue, Honey
Ink:  Copic Markers, Memento Black
Accessories: Prima Flower, Another white paper flower whose name I dont' know and I didnt' save the package, ack!, Misc. clear gems, Yellow stickles

i {heart} copics Fabulous Friday Challenge!

This week's Fabulous Friday Challenge over on the i {heart} copics group on PCP is a sketch challenge.  I used this fun Raccoon Flowers image from Chicken Girl Designs and my Basic Grey Lemonade papers.  I love the simplicity of this sketch...you can keep it simple or add a whole lotta bling to make it a busier card.  Personally, I like 'em simple.

Did you even just have one of those weeks?  One where it didn't seem to matter what you did, you were always behind the eight ball, one step forward two steps back kind of week?  Me too!  Sunday started out well enough, except that the little one threw up at Tim Horton's (Canadian Coffee shop we visit after church every Sunday)...not to worry, we made it to the bathroom in time!  When we got home, she ate a little and seemed fine, but tired.  She wanted to see the ice show again, so I agreed to go with her and hubby even though I had already been the day before and had planned to spend a few hours in my craft room.  Did I mention that the big kid skated like a pro?

This put me behind in my crafting...and all seemed find until the little one woke up late in the evening and lost her dinner...looks like the day off I planned for crafting on Monday is a day off for a sick kid.  Of course, this sick kid is the kind that wants to sit on your lap all day...no biggee, I got 7 loads of laundry done.  Just after the last load went into the washer, I discovered a small trail of water on the floor.  Some investigation by hubby revealed that there is oil leaking from under the washer...time for a new washer.  And, I'm exhausted so no crafting for me tonight.

Tuesday the little one wakes at 6am with lots of attitude...she's feeling better!  Tuesday night my parents take the kids so that we can go and look at new laundry appliances.  Too many dollars later I am now the proud owner of a front-loading washer and dryer...at least on paper, they won't be delivered until next Tuesday.  Yikes...that's a long time to go without laundry facilities.  Wednesday the cleaning lady came and I was embarrassed at the state of our house (even if she is the cleaning lady, we clean up the clutter before she comes)..so that evening we spent time cleaning out the little one's bedroom and ended up with a full garbage bag full of old papers, broken toys and the like.  After the kids were in bed I went grocery shopping and came home at 10pm and promptly went to bed.

Thursday, it took everything I had to get out of bed and function.  Little one was up at 5:45, but I managed to keep her quiet until 6:00 before beginning our day.  Saw a doctor friend who made some recommendations on the little one's tummy troubles (she gets every stomach flu going and is always complaining that her tummy hurts).  Totally overwhelmed at the amount of work and "elimination diet" entails, but I promise to consider it and do some research.  I can't face going back to work, so I go home to craft and "forget my troubles."  Not successful with hubby home and wanting to discuss washer and dryer placement etc.  Thankfully, my Mom dropped by and even though I all I did was whine for a few minutes, I felt 110% better after she left.  I just needed to vent and whine and complain a little.  The rest of the evening went off without a hitch...until I started taking a look at my photos for today's i {heart} copics challenge...take a look at this picture.

You're probably thinking that I'm being overly critical of myself, when in fact I had a good laugh at my many mistakes here.  First of all, she's a Raccoon...when was the last time you saw a brown Raccoon?  Honestly, I coloured her like a Squirrel!  I saw someone else's design who had coloured her and this is what alerted me to my mistake, so even though she was pasted on the card already, I re-printed her and coloured her again.  I took this picture intending to show you that she still looks cute brown.  When I pulled her up in my graphics program I realized that I had coloured her tail the same colour as her dress!  How did I not see that before...seriously?!  I even asked hubby what looked funny about the image and he pointed out that her "feet" were green...I thought they were boots!   LOL!  He didn't even notice the green tail until I pointed it out!  Oh, sometimes a picture really can say a thousand words...this picture sums up my week completely!
If you're still with me, thanks so much for reading about my ramblings.  I did manage to spend some time in my craft room last night (Thursday) and got some DT stuff done and I have another card that is well on its way to being finished.  Hubby and I chatted and we've agreed to fit in a few hours for me to craft this weekend, so that I don't get so far behind again.  However, we're busy busy.  The skating wrap up is this weekend and the big kid is getting an award, so that will take up Sunday afternoon.  Hopefully we'll make to the gym Saturday morning to burn off some steam before we get to clean out the laundry room in preparation of the new washer/dryer and the construction that will be happening mid-May.

Here is a quick shot of the copics that were used on the final image for this week's challenge.

i {heart} copics Fabulous Friday Challenge

Today's challenge is a colour challenge - and it's a really fun combo - BG15, B91 and Y21 (if you don't have these colours, use what you have that is closest.

I started my card by colouring my image.  This is a Sugar Nellie - Honey with Gifts that I got from one of my friends on SCS through a snag list.  I've never inked her, so it was fun to play with a new stamp.
I used the layout over at Paper Sundaes - you still have a day left to enter your creation in thier current challenge - the sketch is very versatile.  I used only cardstock, and ran one sheet through my Cuttlebug to give the card a little interest.  All Papers are CTMH, and the ribbon was a gift from BananaStamper.

Why not come on over to PCP and join us this week for the i {heart} copics Fabulous Friday Challenge?  We'd love to see what you can do!

And, I just realized that my card also fits the Christmas Card Challenge for this week - woohoo!

Copics used:

We've got a jam packed weekend, so I have a few cards already made up in hopes of having time to post.  The big kid is in the skating show, the parents are home and hubby is working.  Luckily I've taken Monday off work to recover, do laundry and craft!  Yay me!

Paper:  CTMH Crystal Blue, Juniper, Creme Brulee

i {heart} copics Fabulous Friday Challenge

You've still got a few days to enter this week's Fabulous Friday Challenge over on the i {heart} copics group on PCP...and it's an easy one!  SPRING!  That's right, any spring themed card will do, so long as you have used Copic Markers somewhere on your card.
I used my Chicken Girl Designs Spring Squirrel Stamp and Neenah 110lb Cardstock.  I coloured her up with my copics and then matched her to some really old (like 2 or 3 years old) Patterned paper that I had in my stash.  I kept the layout simple so that the stamp was the focus.  I wrapped it all up in my Pink Ribbon and voila...a spring card!  Oh, and did you know that i {heart} papers carries over 200 different ribbons that you can buy by the yard!  How cool is that!  Check it out, there is some great ribbon!

i {heart} copics Fabulous Friday

Oops, some of you saw this card when it posted with no words...argh!

Today's card is for the i {heart} copics Fabulous Friday Challenge and it's a great sketch!  Make sure you go and check it out and play with us this week.

My DP is from My Mind's Eye Ooh La La (For Her) Collection.  Instead of a rectangle for my "Sassy Girl" sentiment, I cropped off one of the paper embellishments and stamped my sentiment on it.
The stamp is from Inky Impressions and I coloured it with my copics...and I'll post the photo of the colours I used as soon as I get my computer turned on downstairs.    Her wings are covered in stickles giving them just the right amount of shine.  The ribbon is the nicest lace, it's called Venice Lace in Ivory and it's gorgeous!

I will be entering my card in the Challenge Flutter By Wednesday - anything with wings

Thanks to everyone who left comments before I even typed anything!  You all are the best!

Stamps:  Inky Impressions, CTMH, Kraftin' Kimmie Sassy Girl Sentiment

i {heart} copics Fabulous Friday Challenge #6

It's Friday the 19th of March...guess what arrived in my mailbox yesterday?  NEW MOON! Yup, my DVD pre-order showed up 2 days early!  Bwahahahaha!  Guess what I'm doing tonight after work!

Okay, on to today's post...hang in there, it's a long one!

Oh my gosh, how fun is this?  Have you ever checked out Pixel Geek Designs?  They aren't just digital scrapbooking...they have these really great templates too!
This week's i {heart} copics challenge is sponsored by Pixel Geek Designs. There are two FREE templates available for you to use and try out. And this week's prize is one free template of the winner's choosing!

Pillow Box (scroll down about halfway) and House Box (scroll down about 3/4 of the way).

Use either one of these or any other 3D template to create a project for this week's challenge

A few guidelines...
- Copic Markers must be used somewhere on the project - either to color an image or an embellishment.
- Entry deadline is 10pm PST on Thursday March 25th
- When uploading to the PCP gallery, please label projects for this challenge with IHC031910

I purchased the Square Box with Handle template and printed it on a piece of 8 1/2 x 12 paper.  Then, I cut it all out and scored all my folds.  I was smart enough to do a tester before I didn my actual box, so that I was able to see how to put it together...and it was quite simple actually.  I used my Nestabilities to cut circles in two side of the box, so that my Easter Goodies would show through.

I used My Mind's Eye Ooh-La-La papers, Chicken Girl Desing Digi Stamps Eggstra-Special Bunny and CC Designs Sugarplums Easter Emma.  I placed Easter Emma on the front of my little treat box, and then cropped and resized the egg from my Eggstra-Special Bunny digi stamp to use on the back.

Finally, I used the sketch from PCP Saturday Sketche for March 13th, opting to put my sentiment on the inside of my card.
Whew!  Lastly, I ran to the store to find Easter Candy to put into my treat box!  My husband came down to the scrap room to ooh! and aah! over my project, and he commented how nicely the box stays together...and it really does.  I only used a little adhesive on the side where the box wraps around...the rest just nest's together nicely.  Love it!  I can see making many more projects with this template.

Just a quick note on adhesive.  I have a Scotch ATG gun, and it's a monster...but it works beautifully.  But OMG!  Kate sent me some of her i {stick} papers red line tape...this stuff is like super glue!  Super easy to use, super sticky and I'm sure I'll be buying lots of it in the future!

I am also entering my creation into the following challenge:
I Love Digi is looking for Easter this week.

i {heart} copics!

Hi!  Happy Monday!  Today is the day that I finally get to spill my BIG NEWS!  I am so excited to tell you that I am now on the Design Team for i {heart} copics!  Yippee!  i {heart} copics is a sub-DT of i {heart} papers, and is a Paper Craft Planet group.  If you aren't a member of Paper Craft Planet, I encourage you to come on over and join me there...you won't regret it!

Each week a challenge will be issued by the i{heart}copics team and you will have the chance to play along.  The only "real" requirement is that you use copics somewhere on your creation.   So, in honour of my acceptance of the new DT position, I would love for you to join me in my first challenge - Fabulous Fridays Challenge #3 - it's a great sketch!  Just upload your creation by 10pm EST to the Paper Craft Planet Gallery...it's that easy!  For added challenge - if you choose, the copic colours R29, RV10 and B41 are recommended (or the closest colours that you have).

My papers are Imaginisce Snowy Jo, they were perfect for a winter card, but not too Christmas-ey.  First I used B41 to outline my bear and the I used my blender pen to really blend the colour in so that his fur looks shadowed.  I used R27 on her snowsuit, and dotted it with my blender to take some of the colour away.  Finally I coloured her scarf and outlined her cuffs and hat with RV10.  Then, I took Cotton Candy Stickles and outlined her hat and cuffs and added a little to the bears nose to give them some sparkle.  I also used Diamond Stickles all over my EK Success punched Snowflake.  I finished the card off with a sentiment from Pink Cat Studio's (it's digi so it came free with the image!) and some gem's that look like snowballs.

And, did you see that I made Top 5 at Get Sketchy?!
Super excited about that...sketches are my favourite!

Whew!  That's a lot of news for a Monday!  I hope your Monday is as good as mine!
