Happy Spring

Thanks to everyone for your encouragement during my funk...hubby helped out a bit yesterday and took the kids for ice cream so that I could get into the scrap room and just relax a bit.  And, then I went to bed at 9pm, which is easily 3 hours before I normally go to bed.  Thankfully, I woke up this morning feeling much better!

While I was in my scrap room, I managed to put together this great card, and then this afternoon the sun shone, and I was able to photograph it in natural light. Unfortunately, I only happened to be home in the afternoon because my oldest daughter has the stomach flu!  Poor kid, actually asked how many appendix she has...only had her appendix out 5 weeks ago, so I can imagine the experience is still fresh in her brain.  Lucky for all of us, she only had one appendix and it is now a non-issue!  LOL!

Back to the card...I used the sketch from Sketch Saturday as my starting point...and I pulled out my Imaginisce papers in hopes of making an Easter card.  Then, I decided that I wasn't really in the mood to colour *gasp* so I went in search of my CTMH Stamps that might work.  I found exactly what I need in this Close To My Heart stamp set, From Me to You.
First, I stamped the flower on my heavy white Neenah paper.  Then, I used my copics and coloured the flower.  The difference between this image and what I normally colour, is the technique I tried.  I read about it on another blog, but I can't remember where.  I used the sides of my markers, rather than the tips and I used feathering as well and the ink comes out much lighter.  I graduated my colour for both the inside and the tips of the flower.  To finish the flower, I punched out a circle from the Imaginisce paper and then added some Kaisercraft Pearls.  I used some ribbon from the dollar store to make the stem and then cut out the little pot.  I finished it with a sentiment from Amy R Stamps Spring Sentiments.  Once everything was assembled, the black on the flower looked too dark, so I went over it with some Stickles, to give it sparkle and soften the black lines.  Here's a closer look...
Once everything was coloured, I adhered the flower and the little pot with pop=dots.

My card also qualifies for the following challenges:

All Sorts Challenge: Spring is in the Air

I just couldn't leave you without another quote from Eclipse:

Alice was scrutinizing my boring jeans-and-a-t-shirt outfit in a way that made me self-conscious. Probably plotting another makeover. I sighed. My indifferent attitude to fashion was a constant thorn in her side. If I’d allow it, she’d love to dress me every day — perhaps several times a day — like some oversized three-dimensional paper doll.

Bella Swan, Eclipse, Chapter 2, p.36

Between you and me, I am definitely Bella...fashion-wise anyway.  I love my jeans and t-shirts and hoodies!

Paper:  Imaginisce For Peeps Sake, CTMH Key Lime, Buttercup
