Birthday Invitation

So, my baby will be 4 at the end of this month. Thank goodness! LOL! If you ask my kids (either of them) if mom wants another baby, they will tell you, "We don't need any more baby's in this house!" LOL! I'm quite enjoying my kids as they get older...no diapers...they sometimes listen...I can run them ragged until they pass out on the couch so I can make cards...LOL!

Anyway, the plans for Dalainee's birthday got underway in May...I know, a little far in advance. However, we came up with a Circus theme and it sort of took on a life of its own. First, I downloaded these great digital images from MyGrafico.com from a designer called Zenware Designs. The stamps were all circus themed, and I used two of them on my card: the lion and the word Circus

First, I printed the word Circus on Citrus Leaf CTMH cardstock, and then I printed it on WE R Memory Keepers Frenzy - Rumble White Out Collection Paper. Then, I cut them both out and layered them. I made the card a 6 x 6 because the back side of the paper was divided into 4 squares, so there was no measuring involved. In total, I used 8 pieces of the We R Memory Keepers Paper, 3 Sheets of the Citrus Leaf and 3 sheets of GP110 that I printed my images on.

Something else you might notice is that my image was coloured on the computer...I did this to save time. I was only making 8 invitations, but colouring that many images, that big was going to use up a lot of ink and time. I stamped the circle with my CTMH Express Postage Stamp Set on the Citrus Leaf paper, and then I just had the job of putting it all together.

You can see below what the back looks like. I want "non-traditional" here and just made the card one piece of cardstock. There were enough elements that it wasn't going to be flimsy and again, I didn't want to use unnecessary supplies. I erased our address and phone number, but otherwise, this is exactly what the back looks like.

I had a lot of fun making these invitations...and in all the process took me a few weeks of working at it here and there. I love throwing a good party and I can't wait for this one. We've got the bouncy castle rented, I have plans for a fish pond, mini canvas for paintings are purchased, face paint is at the ready and I'm practicing my balloon animals. The only thing that I don't have worked out yet is food. I planned for mid-afternoon so that we wouldn't have to serve a meal, so I think I'm going to get the kids to help me make some popcorn balls and candy apples. Lucky for me, I've still got a few weeks to get everything together!

Thanks for stopping by today.
