Make a Wish!

Holy smokes it's Monday and I forgot to post my Paper Sundaes card on my blog!  Yikes!

So, here it is....and I am happy to report that this week is an easy challenge over at Paper Sundaes...Circles!  All you have to do to enter to win a fabulous prize from Stamp and Create is to have circles on your project somewhere.
I made this cute card for my friend Erin, who is celebrating a birthday this week.  I hope she likes it.  The layout is courtesy of My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #60.  That's two weeks in a row that I've been able to get a card done with these great sketches!  Woohoo!

And, I noticed while updating my sidebard that I only have 11 cards made this year...I'm a little behind.  So, I am going to try and use up some of the papers that I found while re-organizing my room and pump out some simple cards with easy to colour or no images at all.  So, don't be surprised if you start seeing lots of Christmas cards appearing here!

Thanks for stopping by.

MFT Wednesday Sketch - Finally!

Oh my goodness, I was finally able to use one of the fabulous MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge #59 and post my card in time!  I'm so excited to show you this card.  It started out as a birthday card...at least, that was the idea.  However, I had just been talking to my Mom and a friend of hers at the RV Park in Miami had just lost her Mother.  That got me thinking about her and whether or not I should send a Sympathy card.  So the card, very gradually morphed into a sympathy card.  Thing is, the ladies is an avid sewer....like she did it for a living before she retired.  After some playing and lots of doubt, here is the sympathy card that I came up with.
And, here is the inside....

It's definitely not a traditional sympathy card, but I'm okay with that.  This card feels more personal.  What do you think?

You can never have enough....

Birthday cards!  And this week over at Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog we're aiming to help you add to your stash!  All you have to do to enter to win the fabulous prize from Lily of the Valley is link up a birthday card.  How much easier can it get?

For this week's card, I used the Sweet Stoppe Sketch #146, and it come with a twist...use a die or punch.  NO PROBLEM!  Lol!  I grabbed these fun birthday papers from my stash and got right to work.  I loved mixing the different patterned papers together.  And, I tried not to make it too "girly" so that I could give it to a little boy perhaps...but I'm not sure, what do you think?
Both stamps I used are from Lily of the Valley...I just love their circle sentiments, and they have soooooo many!  These managed to get buried under some papers, so they haven't seen much ink, but I'm planning on changing that!  And, what do you know, I opened up my email to find that this week at Crazy for Challenges, they are asking us to Use Dots and Stripes Together.  Yay, I already did!  So, I"ll be entering my card over there too.

Stamps:  Lily of the Valley Set 8 Happy Circular Sentiments, Recipe Sentiments
Paper:  Best Creation Inc. Let's Party, Misc. light blue and green
Ink:  CTMH Black
Accessories:  Spellbinders Circles, Misc Brads from my stash, Prima Flower and Dollar Store Ribbon.

Sundae Bar Challenge!

Happy Sunday!  This week's challenge over at Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog they have opened the "Sundae Bar".  Topping include the colour cream, blue, distressing and pearls.  To play along you just need to use at least two of the four toppings!  If you use more, that's great too!  Our Sponsor this week is Elizabeth Bell so be sure to participate, you could win 2 digital stamps of your choice!

Here is the Valentine card that I may for the Munchkin's teacher.  We just adore this woman, partly I think because she reminds us both of my mother.  You cannot walk into the room where this woman is without smiling and she just radiates love and warmth.  Plus, she's a stickler for rules and time management which is great for a fourth grader to learn!!  LOL!!

I used cream, blue and pearls.  My image is "i love school" by Elizabeth Bell for Whiff of Joy and this is the first time I've been able to ink her up.  I bought her specifically because I loved her glasses (both my girls wear glasses) and I new she would be useful for cards for teachers.  My blog friend Lee-Ann will be pleased to see all of my paper piecing...check out that cute matching purse and headband!

I used the sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday as my inspiration for the layout.  I couldn't figure out where to put a sentiment, so I decided to just leave it off the front and put it on the inside.

I am happy that the Munchkin is going to be able to put a little message of her own in here.  Although the paper looks black here, it is actually a very dark blue.

Well, we're off and running today.  The Rock Star is headed to her "boyfriend's house" for a play date and I will be taking the Munchkin and a friend and my knitting to the local pool for a swim.  Thank goodness they are old enough I don't need to get wet!  Then, we have a piano recital tonight for the Munchkin.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

Stamps:  Elizabeth Bell Back2School Collection: School accessories, i love school, No1 teacher sentiment
Paper:  Pink Paislee 365 degrees collection, CTMH Outdoor Denim, Parchment, Cranberry
Ink:  Copic Markers, Memento Black
Accessories:  Spellbinders Hearts & Scalloped Hearts, Pearls, Misc. Ribbon, SU punch to make it look like school paper on the inside.

Clean and Simple

Whew, another week of 2012 is gone, can you believe it?!?  Thank goodness this week's challenge over at Paper Sundaes is an easy one....Clean and Simple.  Sometimes, we can really over think a card when the simplest ones are sometimes the prettiest.  I felt that way about this card.  Some pretty paper, a simple flower and sentiment and voila!
The layout is courtesy of The Sweet Stop Sketch #136, from just before Christmas.  And, I liked it so much I made a second card using this sketch and actually made 2 of each of these so now I have added 4 cards to my Christmas card stash!
Speaking of stash...you may have noticed that I added some goals on my blog...upper left corner.  I figure this is a good way for me to see that I actually do get cards made, even when I am busy with life, and I wanted to show my knitting adventures as well.  I'm almost finished my first knitting project and am well into my second so hopefully I'll be able to show you that this week!

As for today, the Munchkin has a play date all afternoon at a friends house and I am working away at finding somewhere for the Rock Star to play so that I can have a few hours to myself in my craft room uninterrupted....and not after 9 at night.  :)

Have a great day!
